Matthew Bartula inducted into GFCA Hall of Fame

On Tuesday, January 23, Matthew Batula was offically inducted into the GFCA Hall of Fame. Director of Communications Jamie Wills presented Matthew Bartula the award in his classroom alongside the principal of Sequoyah High School, Bob Van Alstyne.

Induction into the Hall of Fame is the highest honor for any Georgia high school speech and debate coach. Members are inducted into the Hall of Fame by a vote of the current members of the Hall of Fame and the Executive Committee. The nomination for Bartula noted his committment to speech and debate in Georgia since 2007. It noted how he has the deep respect of both his students and coaches around the state. The nomination also included accolades already earned by him including receving the 2011 Debate Coach of the Year award from the GFCA. Sigificantly, it highlighted the success of Sequoyah High School’s Speech and Debate program inclduing its numerous state champions, sweepstakes awards, and the awarding of the Bruce Rodgers President’s Cup in 2022.

Bartula’s committment to our activity in the state state made him a truly deserving candidate for this award.

The Executive Committee will further honor Matt Bartula at the 2024 Varsity State Championship.
